Practice.Improve.Master.

Get better at practical skills by solving short challenges, understanding every mistake and seeing which skills grow stronger. XYZ starts with JavaScript, logic and English.

XYZ is in early development. JavaScript challenges are playable, including writing and debugging real code, and the playground is open; paths and review are still to come.

How practice works

Every skill uses the same loop, so what you learn about practising carries over.

  1. Solve

Each challenge is small: predict what code prints, finish a sentence, put steps in order or write a function.

  2. Understand

Feedback explains why an answer is right or wrong, and names the specific mistake when it is a common one.

  3. Review

Challenges you missed come back later, so a mistake becomes practice instead of a dead end.

  4. Grow

My Skills shows what you have practised and where you are improving, based only on what you solved.

Three skill areas to start

Each area has its own skills. A challenge can practise more than one.

Programming

Read, write and debug code, starting with JavaScript.

JavaScript

  • Values and types
  • Strings
  • Numbers
  • Variables and scope
  • Operators
  • Boolean expressions
  • Control flow
  • Functions
  • Closures
  • Arrays
  • Objects
  • Asynchronous code
  • Errors and exceptions
  • Debugging

Logic & Critical Thinking

Reason step by step, spot patterns and test whether a conclusion really follows.

Reasoning

  • Deduction
  • Conditional reasoning
  • Sequences and patterns
  • Evaluating arguments

Language & Communication

Use language precisely, starting with English grammar, vocabulary and reading.

English

  • Verb tenses
  • Word order
  • Vocabulary in context
  • Reading comprehension

Later: Mathematics, Design & Digital Skills.

Seven ways to practise

Different skills need different kinds of challenge. All of them will give feedback and an explanation.

Multiple choice
Pick one or several answers.
Predict the output
Read code and say what it prints.
Fill in the blank
Complete code or a sentence.
Put in order
Arrange steps, events or words.
Numeric answer
Work out a number.
Write code
Write a function that passes the tests.Runs your code in an isolated sandbox
Debug
Find and fix the bug in working-looking code.Runs your code in an isolated sandbox

The plan

XYZ is built in milestones. Each one ships something usable before the next starts.

  1. M0

    FoundationDone

Design system, navigation, both languages, both themes and the challenge model.

  2. M1

    First challengesDone

The challenge library and player for answer-based formats, with the first published JavaScript set.

  3. M2

    Code runnerDone

A sandboxed JavaScript runner, code-writing and debugging challenges, and the playground.

  4. M3

    PathsNext

Structured paths, and the first logic and English challenge sets.

  5. M4

    Review and My SkillsLater

Practice from your mistakes, and a transparent view of skill progress.

  6. M5

    Safe sharingLater

Sharing playground code, once a separate runner site and a read-first step protect whoever opens it.

  7. M6

    LaunchLater

Accessibility and performance audits, ecosystem listing and public release.
